The Enistic system is perfect for large businesses who want to reduce their energy spend.
Our system is broken down into 3 major stages:
Fit energy audit equipment
Enistic have a range of energy auditing equipment. Most is simple to fit yourself, inexpensive and portable. The two main products we recommend companies to 'Start with' are:
The Enistic Energy Audit Kit - a simple 7 socket kit that looks at energy use of office IT equipment.
One or more 16 Channel Smart Meters, which fit inside your fuse box and tells you about the energy use of your air conditioning, lighting, servers and plant.
Other equipment is available for chillers, motors and other larger equipment.
These products feed information back to either the online system 'The Enistic Energy Manager Online System' or to the desktop program 'Energy Manager Lite.' Very large companies normally extend the standard Audit Kit with additional 5 way sockets to cover an entire department, typically with 20 - 50 PCs.
Fit energy saving equipment
From the Enistic Energy Manager, you can click a button and get a report from your system to get a monthly report of your energy use. Once you know the state of play, there is normally a clear saving to be made using our four main energy saving products which when used together we call "Active Energy Management":
Powerdown Strip - a simple device that turns off peripheral desktop IT equipment (such as monitors, printers etc) once the main PC turns off.
Powerdown Screensaver - which turns PCs off overnight if they are left on. It allows for IT updates and patches overnight.
5 way Smart Sockets - these have built in switches and can be turned off overnight if the equipment is not being used.
Enistic Energy Manager - the software package that lets you zoom in and see your energy use.
Analyse and action
By leaving the 16 channel Smart Meters in place, you can track your energy reductions in the Enistic Energy Manager. You can bring up energy use by department and start feeding this information back into departmental profit and loss accounts to encourage managers to take responsibility for the energy use in their areas. Emailing reports to managers and staff can help reinforce energy saving messages and progress towards your agreed targets.
Simple techniques of competitions to win some of our sister companies 'Bye Bye Standby' energy saving kits can be effective motivators to help involve staff and, critically, help to encourage behavioural changes.
Monthly analysis can be done by your own organisation or one of our partners, who can continually help you monitor the state of play and who can work with you to identify which areas of the business should be addressed to achieve the maximum savings.
Frequently Asked Questions from larger businesses:
My IT team tell me that I have to leave all the PCs on overnight - can you accomodate this?
Yes. Our system can wake up PCs at specified times and then shut them down again to allow IT upgrades to happen overnight.
Our IT team will not allow information to be sent to your internet servers - do you have an in house version?
Yes we do. Ask your reseller about our 'Plug and Go' or 'Enterprise' servers which work on your Intranet
Can we have our corporate logo on the Screensaver instead of yours?
Yes.
Can I run a free trial of your system to see if it would work for us?
Some of our partners may be able to help you here as they have equipment that they can loan you / install for you for a trial. They may make some charges for their time or expenses but this varies on a partner by partner basis.
What is the payback time for your system?
For the majority of purchased installations we have a payback period of less than 2 years, sometimes in under 1 year. For leased systems, the payback time is normally less than 3 months. These figures will vary, depending on your individual circumstances.
Who else is using it? Do you have any case studies?
Amongst others, the Enistic Energy Management System is used by The Carbon Trust, IBM, Fujitsu, several of the Councils and many schools. We have formal case studies from IBM (Q4/09) and from a manufacturing company in Swindon. Oxford University Environmental Policy Unit has conducted a study on our equipment and determined that the average saving would result in a sub 2 year payback for most larger businesses.
