Overview
The Enistic Energy Saving Starter Kit is a simple to operate energy auditing system that works straight out of the box. It is ideal for people who want to get an accurate, detailed view on their energy consumption either by device, person, department or by building. Data is collected every 10 seconds and can be displayed on the included software or on a hosted platform. Either energy consumed, money spent or carbon dioxide produced can be displayed in numeric or graphical. The equipment uses meter grade energy measuring circuits to ensure the results are penny perfect.
With the online system, energy management is available using the Enistic Active Energy Management system (AEM). Using AEM you can:
- Turn off your computers automatically when they are shut down into standby mode
- Switch off audio visual equipment, computer peripherals, printers, photocopiers and kitchen equipment etc overnight and at the weekends
Reports are generated automatically showing what the savings are that the AEM system has achieved.
Simple to install
To install, simply replace an existing 4 way socket with the supplied 5 way Anti Surge Smart Strips and plug in the Zone Controller. A wireless system, the Smart Strips communicate with each other and with the Zone Controller which is supplied in the kit. The system comes pre configured to automatically detect the Smart strips you are using and begins to record / display the power they are consuming in a real time manner on a secure, hosted platform. To demonstrate the system in operation, turn on any of the equipment plugged into the Smart Strips and the graphs show the increased energy use immediately.
The equipment is suitable for use on all office based IT equipment such as desk based PC systems, photocopiers, vending machines, printers, audio / visual equipment, televisions, plasma screens and servers. With this level of flexibility you are able to start measuring how much individual pieces of equipment cost to run and begin the process of identifying the energy hogs within your organisation. This can be used to management strategies that are transparent and simple to operate, perhaps leading to the replacement of energy hungry equipment for more energy efficient systems or the improvement in the ways that equipment is operated.
How does it work?
The supplied Smart Strip replaces any standard four way gang socket, and is plugged into any spare power point. Any electronic devices such as PC’s, printers and vending machines can be plugged into the Smart Strip to be monitored and managed by the Energy Manager software. A wireless system, the Smart Strips communicate with each other and with the Zone Controller which is supplied in the kit. Analyse energy consumption on a person-by-person or department-by-department basis
For the first time, you now have the power to show people their energy use on an individual or departmental basis. This means that corporate energy reduction schemes that are sometimes impersonal and remote can now be made personal and local to the individuals concerned. This leads to a greater sense of responsibility and ownership for your staff members and greatly helps with the complicated process of affecting behavioral change within your organisation.
Accurate, reliable and secure
The Smart Strips utilise the latest generation of energy measuring components as used on the latest electricity metering systems. This system provides penny perfect energy measurement of equipment at an appliance level. These systems work for all office based equipment. The Starter kit can be extended with the either the Lighting Energy Monitoring Kit or the Air Conditioning Energy Monitoring Kit.
The kit utilises a meshing technology which yields an unparalleled range. Each Smart Strip communicates not just with the Zone Controller, but also with all of the other Smart Strips in the system so that if the Zone Controller is out of range of the wireless signal, the message is sent to the adjacent Smart Strip and then "passed on" to the next Smart Strip and then to the next Smart Strip etc until the information is finally delivered to the Zone Controller. This means that even large offices can be catered for with just one Energy Manager and Zone Controller. NB There is no practical limit to the number of Smart Sockets and Smart Strips you can have per installation.
All communication between the Smart Strips and other products in the Enistic range are encrypted using the same 128 bit encryption algorithm that is used to safeguard your credit card transactions online. This means that the system is unparalleled in its security and you can rest assured that you have complete control over your installation.
Use in the classroom
Not only can it save the school on its energy costs, but when linked to the curriculum, it can be a useful tool to show pupils an immediate example of what they learn about energy in the classroom, incorporating it into science practical lessons. Students and pupils can engage with the energy the school uses and using the data collected through Enistic Energy Manager can explore their own ideas on how to save energy. The system sends a message to pupils, parents and teachers alike that energy saving is an important aspect of the school, and can be tied in to recycling, car-pool schemes and “walk to school” ideas to create a greener, healthier school.
Because the system is so visually engaging, the Enistic Saving Starter Kit is ideal for learning more about energy use and the power everyday devices around us use. This kit ideal for use to explore questions such as "what energy does my photocopier use when it is running? How much energy does it use if I leave it switched on overnight? How much do my computers cost to run?"
All these sorts of questions can be answered by simply plugging things into the Smart Sockets and watching the numbers and graphs on the screen.
